Samsung is set to launch One UI 9 alongside its latest foldable smartphones at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, according to the schedule released by the company.
New Mirror View camera feature remains undefined
The upcoming software update is rumored to introduce a camera mode called Mirror View. The name suggests a function tailored for the foldable form factor, but details have not been disclosed. SamMobile reported that the feature has not appeared in any developer previews, and no demonstration has been seen at recent briefings.
Current foldables already allow users to view the camera preview on the cover screen as well as the internal display, and selfie lenses have offered a mirror option for years. The lack of information on Mirror View makes it one of the few aspects of the new release that has not leaked.
Hardware upgrades and pricing expectations
The event will showcase the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, each running on Android 17. Battery capacities are being increased, with the Fold 8 receiving a 4,800 mAh unit and the Fold 8 Ultra a 5,000 mAh cell. Larger batteries should help mitigate the power draw of the bigger displays.
Analysts anticipate higher price points across the lineup, reflecting the new specifications and the continued premium positioning of the foldable range. The exact pricing has not been confirmed, but earlier rumors suggested a modest increase over the previous generation.
While the hardware improvements are clear, the software side may hold the most intrigue for early adopters. If Mirror View proves to be a novel way to use the dual screens for photography, it could set a new standard for how foldable devices handle image capture.

Fans await the reveal.
Historically, the company has used its Unpacked events to reveal incremental upgrades rather than sweeping changes. The current rollout appears consistent with that pattern, focusing on larger batteries and a modest UI refresh while keeping a key camera feature under wraps.
Beyond phones, the firm plans to unveil the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and potentially a teaser for upcoming smart glasses developed in partnership with Google, Qualcomm, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster. Those glasses were briefly highlighted at Google I/O in May.
The timing of the Unpacked event aligns with the U.S. morning schedule, starting at 9 a.m. ET (6 a.m. PT). Attendees and livestream viewers will be able to see the new devices in action, though Samsung has not released detailed specifications for the Mirror View function.
Given the limited information, consumers may have to wait until the official demonstration to understand how Mirror View differs from existing preview options. Until then, the feature remains a curiosity among the broader set of updates.
