ScanSource’s acquisition of MicroAge is expected to expand the company’s services and drive partner revenue growth, according to CEO Mike Baur. The company reported a 17 percent revenue growth in its fourth fiscal quarter 2026, and the acquisition of MicroAge is seen as a key move in its convergence strategy of bringing IT services to its traditional telecom channel community.
Baur said that MicroAge has a long history of providing services to the end-user community, and its acquisition will allow ScanSource to offer more services to its channel partners. They plan to take MicroAge’s existing services and sell them through its channel of solution providers, with the goal of adding more fuel to MicroAge’s business.
Instead, ScanSource will focus on taking MicroAge’s services and offering them to its other channel partners, with the goal of driving revenue growth.

There is a possibility of channel conflict, as MicroAge has its own services business and will now be offering those services to ScanSource’s other channel partners. However, Baur said that MicroAge has a very small market share in the United States, and there is little overlap between MicroAge’s client list and the clients sold through ScanSource’s typical channel partners.
Baur also noted that MicroAge’s services are different from what ScanSource’s channel partners typically sell, and that the company will be able to help decide who was there first and who is providing value in cases where there is overlap. This ability to manage potential conflicts will be important for ScanSource, which has experience with managing channel conflict from its acquisition of technology advisor Resourcive.
ScanSource reported a 17 percent revenue growth in its fourth fiscal quarter 2026, with the majority of the growth coming from volume demand rather than price increases. The company’s senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, Stephen Jones, said that it is difficult to determine the exact impact of price increases on the company’s growth.

As ScanSource starts its new fiscal year, the company is focused on providing confidence to its teams and partners that it can execute its convergence strategy.
With the acquisition of MicroAge, ScanSource is well-positioned to expand its services and drive partner revenue growth. The company’s focus on execution and its relationships with key suppliers will be important factors in its ability to achieve its growth goals.
